Apollo Overslept

The Sun refused to rise
The morning after you left

And the Stars tried their best
To give me some semblance of light

But they, too, feebly flickered
Fleeting
For there was no one to blame but myself

No matter how badly I wanted to believe
Apollo overslept.

And so
This darkness is my own
And this night is my reminder
That you had to go
For me to wake up

And start a new day
