Dionysus Had Social Anxiety

"The life of the party”

Such a toxic title

Placing the pressures of the night
Of the crowd
Of the memories
Onto a single pair of shoulders.

For when everyone’s focus is on us
And our focus is on their desires,
We tend to forget
We too
Are there to have fun

So I wouldn’t be surprised
If Dionysus had social anxiety

Pretending that pleasing the people was paramount to ones prosperity

Because when your identity is defined
By what others can get out of you,
There is nothing left for us
To call our own
