Find Each Other In The Moon

There are many reasons why
Wolves howl at night

To communicate long distances
To defend and claim their territories
To locate lost members of the pack
Or inversely
To find ones pack after being separated

There are many reason why
I may be a wolf

Because I call out to you in everything I do,
Even from so far away

Because I close myself off, hackles on edge,
In order to keep myself safe

Because I cry out
When I am lost
In hopes the echoes are understood

So maybe soon
We, too,
Can find each other
In the moon
