Invisible Man

I tried my best to be translucent.
So you could see my heart
And understand what’s going on inside of me
Better than my mouth could communicate.

But I pushed too hard
To clear the air

And you saw through me,
All at once.
Too tragically transparent to be
Even considered solid.

So I faded
Into the background.
And waited
To see if you would even notice.
