Opposite Ends

I’ve noticed that it’s the people who want so desperately to get close to others
Who are the ones that tend to keep everyone else at arms length

And it reminded me of those magnets they gave us in school
With one side marked S and the other marked N
One blue, One red

And as you push the same sides together, they repel
Despite knowing a magnet, by definition, wants to attract.

So I ask you this…

Are you a magnet?
Expecting to find your place while constantly striving to be attracted to the things that are,
Down to the atom,
The opposite of yourself?

Or are you a human?
Running away from everyone who actually wants to be in your life
To be near you
While you’re too busy chasing after those who don’t even realize
You’re running?
