Soda Pop

I believe anxiety is carbonated

That is why we’re afraid to take any action

Because when life throws us aside,
Leaving us shaken at the slightest inconvinence

We feel like we might explode.

And we can’t open up about it
Because once that seal is cracked
By someone we offer ourselves to
We end up in a sticky situation
Since no one is ever prepared
For the crushing contents we carry

So the best we can do is wait

And hope that our sufferings settle

Accepting that maybe we’d be better off flat
And tastesless
Than empty…

But then again, I know there are those who are patient and can handle us with care

To give us time.
To push ever so gently

To let us release relief
And sigh

Knowing we are finally in good hands

Hands that will take care of us

Hands who want us

Hands that understand
How fragile we might be

Yet still want a taste of what we have to offer
