Winter Wonder Land
I think about all the possibilities of what could have been
If I reached out sooner, spoke up louder, stayed a little longer.
I let these thoughts cascade, dancing in the winds of self doubt,
Piling up at my feet,
And I’m so tempted to just lay in them
Catch them on my tongue
For one last taste of you.
But I know
Spending too much time with these thoughts,
Exposing my raw self to them,
Will leave me cold.
Numb.
Frozen in place, unable to move on.
There is nothing wrong with enjoying the storm
But you need to keep yourself warm
In reality
To appreciate the beauty of what could have been
From the safety of what is
