Byway

I’ll take the back roads
To avoid the high ones
Even though there are more tolls to pay
When I’m left alone
To reflect
On streets they forgot to pave

With street lights so sparse
Illumination
Is nearly impossible

But I’ll drive,
With static on the radio,
For the clarity will come
When I find the right way
To get home
