How Can We Survive Another Four Years?

There are people in this world so full of Hate

That it bleeds from their pores,

Believing themselves untouchable
Believing themselves the victors

Brimming with pride
That their Hate was stronger
Than our Love

But that is not the truth.

No, all they’ve really done

Is shown us their true colors

A warning to those who’ve been told
To keep their Love in check

For we now know
Who is worth our time

For we now know
Who is worth our strength

For we now know
Love
Is not unconditional anymore.

Let them have their Hate,
But they don’t need ours too

Instead,
Our energy will be spent
Loving those who Love us back

For I’m done
Giving an audience to their Hate
By trying to show them what Love looks like

We will reserve our Love
For those who accept it

And in time, we will thrive
For we will know how good
Love
Can be
When it isn’t challenged
Or questioned
Or threatened

And in time, they will see
That Hate
Has no power
When it’s target
Is no longer listening
