Fennec

There was something ominous about the way she spoke.

Like the screaming of a fox,

Both alluring

And foreboding.

Claiming me as her territory,

Yet keeping me at bay through barks and howls.

And I always knew she was sly,

But I never thought

She’d steal my spine

And my heart

At the same time.
