Treading Water
I awoke
In a cold sweat
From dampened dreams
That were dipped in a libido lido.
For I spent the night treading water
Unable to put my foot down
And stand on my own.
Shivering at the realization
That even in my sleep
I can’t have you.
Afraid
That maybe I’m better off
Sinking rather than swimming.
Maybe I’m better off drowning
Than dreaming.
