Mausoleum at Halicarnassus

The masks we wear
Are the faces
To identities we store inside

Statues in poses
Too perilous to stay standing for long

Serving as a reminder
To actions by actors
We refuse to believe
Were played by ourselves

Frozen in place
Until our worlds are rocked to the core
By a trigger
A reminder
An earthquake

For our faults are as fragile
As the faults they are built on

Crumbling into nothing

And that
Is the price we pay
For wanting to be
Someone else
