Poet of the Argonauts
People misinterpret the message of Orpheus
Claiming he didn’t trust Eurydice was there
Because he looked back.
And in doing so
Proved he wasn’t willing to wait
And in doing so
Proved he didn’t truly love her.
But what those people don’t realize is that he looked back
Because he loved her.
If Orpheus had the ability to never look back and just continue to move forward,
Then he never would have gone to the Underworld in the first place.
To love
Is to look back.
Even if all we see are ghosts
Who we can never be with again
For if one can simply walk away
Then that, I feel
Is a sign of a loveless affection.
So I will always look back
And search for your face
In the space in-between
Home and Hell
Because I would rather look my Losses in the eyes
And accept they are gone
Than to quest for Hope
Of seeing you again
