To Caribou

I read that reindeer eyes turn blue when the seasons change.
This helps them navigate through the lower light conditions of Winter.
So that they could find their way and not get lost.

So maybe it’s okay to be sad right now.
Maybe my heart turned blue
To adapt to the cold conditions I find myself in.
Maybe this sadness is what I need,
Just for the season,
To help me navigate through the dark
And find my way
To not get lost.
